The Advantage: Why Organizational Health Trumps Everything Else in Business

Patrick Lencioni makes the case that organizational health will surpass all other disciplines in business as the greatest opportunity for improvement and competitive advantage. He urges leaders to create organizations that are healthy, whole, consistent and complete, with a culture unified among management and operations. Healthy organizations will outperform their counterparts, be free of politics and confusion, and provide an environment where star performers never want to leave. Big claims for some simple principles, but ones that leaders tend to forget about while tackling issues that are more immediate, but less influential to long-term success.

Lencioni covers four disciplines (not steps) to organizational health: build a cohesive leadership team, create clarity, overcommunicate clarity, and reinforce clarity. He also addresses the often problematic issue of meetings, as well.
